Audio Clip: Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche on ‘The Mother of All the Buddhas’

In the 1970s, the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche offered two teachings — one on Feminine Principle, held a short walk from Karmê Chöling, and the other on EVAM, offered in Boulder, Colo. Beginning Nov. 15 and continuing each Monday through Dec. 13, Shastri Bill Brauer and Ella Reznikova will lead a discussion group based on audio and video recordings of those offerings from Trungpa Rinpoche, as well as transcripts of the same teachings. The group is titled “Vidyadhara, Feminine Principle and Evam,” and is offered both online and in-person at Karmê Chöling.

“There is an unspeakable, unnameable, fundamental pain which produces the reality of a confused realm. 

“And because of that, then (Buddha) also realized that there is a realm of non-existence. No ego, no basic being, no substance. But at the same time that experience had to be experienced by some intelligent mind, which is called prajna, so consequently the prajna is referred to as the mother of all the buddhas. 

“So from the basic realities concerned, there is nothing but space. Unconditional space. Space that which is not defined or labeled as product or producer. 

“And that is the mother of all the buddhas.”
